On the ninth day of term 4 we had athletics day. I was the youngest ten year old in the group. There were different types of events such as jumps, throws and runs. For high jump I did better in the practices than I did for real, but I did the best I have ever done for sprints. My total score was thirteen.
Dillon is a 9 year old at Tinwald School. He is in room 7 and is my best friend. We have a lot in common such as : we both like lego, we were born in the same month, we both start with the letter D. Dillon made up a game where you have to kick a ball over a fence and the person on the other side has to try and catch it in the least amount of bounces possible. Sometimes people ruin the game by catching it instead of us. We are both clever at maths. Dillon's hair is blonde and a bit longer than mine. Dillon is taller than me but I don't care that much.
At school this term we started doing jump rope for heart. On Monday 1st September we are having a huge jump off where we get in our houses and perform a skipping show in front of the school which I really do not want to go wrong.
These shapes are all cuboids.
These 2 shapes are called cones.
These are spheres.
These shapes are cylinders.
These shapes are cubes, especially the Rubiks CUBE.
The shape on the left is a prolate spheroid and the shape on the right is a triangular prism.
I have no idea what this shape is but I do know it has LOTS of sides!!!
In the training for winter tournament I get a really sore back. I decided to play hockey. I don't have my own hockey stick so I have to borrow one from the PE shed, but one time Kane locked the key inside the shed and it took a while but we finally got the spare key and opened it and the key was sitting on the bench in the shed. I don't think our team will get that far in the actual tournament though.
At about 1.45 in the afternoon all of Arrowsmith went to the hall and got ready for the Handle The Jandal challenge. There were x's marking the floor for where we had to stand during the game. Room 7 was the first for one of the teams to finish. We threw the ball lightly to the people (like me)that weren't so good and faster to the people that were a bit better. But at least room 9 won the challenge!
Today we did a quick science experiment using ginger beer, a raisin and a glass. We poured some ginger beer into the glass then we dropped a raisin into the ginger beer. We waited a few minutes and then the raisin popped up to the top of the ginger beer and stayed there for a few seconds; it fell back down again then we waited a few more minutes and the same thing happened. But after that it didn't move again. I reckoned that experiment was pretty cool. It was my favourite experiment we had done so far at school. This term we have been learning about science and in week eight the school will do a science display where everyone makes their own science experiment and puts them on display.
On Monday first day of week three ,Arrowsmith started swimming lessons . I am in level three group one and yesterday I started to do breaststroke kick .
Swimming is important because if you fall off a boat and you don't have a life jacket on you need to be able to swim back to shore or back into your boat .
On Friday we had the cross country at Tinwald School. First were the year six boys competitive, next were the year six girls competitive and next it was me, I was puffed half way through but I did come eighth place in the end.
